Reading List 2013

So how was last year's reading list? Did you just plow through it on some sleepless nights? Did you go for the classics or what critics are curating as of late?

It feels good to get lost in a book. But to get lost in a pile of books- whew! means only two things - filter your reading list or devote more time reading. Otherwise, you'll be stuck hoarding books by your bedside :)

Maybe just for 2013, you can also try reading books via a e-reader or tablet. Who knows? Maybe you could do away with the stack afterwards.

Interest in Pinterest

I have done so many cool projects for the house since discovering PINTEREST! I'm actually making a big chalkboard for the kitchen this weekend using a huge wooden picture that I don't like anymore. I'm going to make my kids a few chalk mats too! I'm such a nerd...

My Struggle with Endometriosis

I've had it since I was 27.

Stage IV, 6 laparscopic surgeries and a series of drug therapies, including RU486 experimentally.  Have you tried Lupron or Zolodex?  Generally you're on it for 6 months, but they can "add back" a little premarin and provera to alleviate the hot flashes, etc. you may get from "turning off" all the hormones.  With using the add back therapies, you can theoretically stay on the GnRh analog drugs (Zolodex, Lupron) indefinately.

Where do you live?  I might be able to point you to a reproductive endocrinologist.  Hysterectomy is definately a solution, but it is a permanent solution.  A  divorced friend with 2 kids had one, then a few years later she remarried and was sorry she went that route at such a young age (around 28).  So go that route only after exhausting other treatments.

Mommy Needs Some Nail Pampering

Got my toes done, nothing like a perfect mani-pedi plus I bought these gorgeous golden sandals to pamper my feet.

My choice in lacquer remains divine- Tom Ford's Beauty Nail Lacquer called Scarlet Chinois. I put on a light coat BTW.
Some Mommy Tips with the Nail Polish:
  • Before putting on any lacquer, dab alcohol or nail polish remover to clear away any excess oils. Rinse nails after then dry.
  • It's a trick one needs to learn, can you paint your each nail in swift yet dainty three to five strokes? The more strokes you apply will result in thick layers and the all-too familiar Bubbles. When dry, end with a clear top coat.
  • Too avoid hangnails on your big toes which are gosh painful, be sure to clip them off, never pull the nail or the excess skin if your nail gets snagged.
  • Hangnails can lead to an open wounds or a sore toe. Worst case scenario is out-patient surgery to treat the infected toe. Ouch!

Little Sunburnt Boy

My son just got home from his grandpop's place. He's got a pretty bad sunburn. He looks like toast. I have lathered his skin with aloe. But the skin hasn't started to peel out just yet, its very red and has started to hurt real bad. I'm taking him to the pedia on Monday, I'm considering giving him Motrin. I wonder if this helps?

Grandpop did put some sun block around SPF 30 on him but never reapplied another layer. His skin had some blisters this morning. I'm keeping my boy as hydrated as possible. Can't help but worry :(

The Exercise Nut

I do a little something every day, on 3 day rotation of yoga, walking, and weights. I use the All-in yoga app on my phone; walk til I don't want to anymore; and have dumbbells that I do a bunch of different stuff with from my Gain Fitness app. I only use 2-5lbs though cuz I bulk up like a man if I use heavy weights. Back when I was in my twenties, I had some serious man arms, and I thought they were gross.

I hate gyms, I lose motivation quick if I'm in there for more than an hour plus I get distracted by those buff guys making faces like they are either on the toilet or about to orgasm... I can't go in there. So that leaves me with working out at home. I've done the wii fit and I got bored with it fast. I'm doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shed and shred. The workouts are intense and non stop but there are 3 different levels which means 3 different workouts and it's intense BUT it only last 20 minutes. Quick and dirty. The dvd was less than $10, totally worth it.

Good Karma

Dylan texted this today:
Don't rush into anything, my dear Karol. If something is meant to be in your life, it will happen...at the right time and for the right reasons.

Meditating on this all I can think about is that stream in Napiers. I am Mommy Karol. I am cool, calm and collected.
